Tel Aviv, Israel — I am an equal opportunity animal lover, and I do really like cats. But with three million street cats in Israel, and most of them seeming to be concentrated in the city of Tel Aviv, I can now say that I only have enough room in my heart to love one, maybe 1.8 cats at a time. I have learned this since every day I am constantly confronted with little feline beasts sitting on fences, cars, motorbikes, and all sorts of piles of trash, their beady little rabies eyes staring at me, plotting their revenge.

The one street cat that I can love is Schnitzel, the fluffy and friendly tabby cat that lives (probably in a dumpster) nearby the kiosk on Frishman and Shlomo HaMelekh. The rest of them are totally mangy and gross, darting from under one car to a nearby trashcan and screeching all through the night outside of every single apartment building in Tel Aviv.

Andrew Lloyd Webber, what have you done?!
